In Resident Evil Requiem (RE9), a single wrong turn or skipped step can permanently lock collectibles, one-time events, or even trophies. This guide maps every missable in the campaign — chapter by chapter — so you can hit 100% completion on your first playthrough.

Why missables matter in RE9

Unlike most modern Resident Evil entries, RE9 has multiple one-way chapter transitions. Once you leave a chapter, every collectible, event, and trophy gated to that chapter is permanently closed for that playthrough. For trophy hunters this is especially brutal — some trophies are only obtainable within a single chapter window.

This guide covers 4 categories of missables:

Critical 7 — never miss these

Never miss these 7 items — missing any of them blocks platinum trophy completion until NG+:
  1. Safes #1-#4 (Care Center) — Open all four before entering the Courtyard. Safe codes guide
  2. Eye Spy Charm — Reward from Chunk #1 (Care Center East Wing 2F). Lifesaver on Insanity.
  3. Mortal Edge Hatchet — Reward from The Commander (ARK interior). Essentially required for Victor Gideon.
  4. Marksman 1A Rifle — Back room of Hank's Pawn (Raccoon City North district). Critical for Plant 43 + Victor Gideon.
  5. ARK Keycard — Raccoon City West district train station. Required to enter ARK Facility.
  6. Orphanage Keepsake — Chapter 6 only. Triggers NG+ alternate ending.
  7. Hemorrhetic Injectors — One-shot kill key for Chef/Chunk. Stockpile in early chapters.

Chapter 1: Wrenwood Hotel

Relatively safe chapter, but several missables:

Chapter 2: Care Center (most missable-rich chapter)

The Care Center is the campaign's first major sandbox and contains the most missables of any chapter. See Care Center walkthrough for full step-by-step routing.

Chapter 3: Care Center Basement

Chapter 4: Courtyard

Chapter 5: Water Treatment Plant

Chapter 6: RPD & Orphanage

💡 Most missable-dense chapter — once Mr. X spawns, no backtracking is possible.

Chapter 7: Raccoon City Square

Chapter 8: ARK Facility

Missable trophies

These trophies can only be earned within specific chapters. Missing them requires NG+ or (when unlocked) chapter select:

Tips to never miss anything

  1. Save in a new slot at the start of every chapter — gives you a backtrack point if you realize you missed something
  2. Check the chapter checklist on this page before triggering any chapter-transition cutscene (keep this page open on mobile)
  3. Insanity-run players: follow this guide religiously — Insanity's chapter-select unlocks are inconvenient
  4. NG+ can recover most misses — but trophies count per-playthrough, so plan accordingly
  5. Microsoft Clarity data from our user base shows the highest 100%-completion failure rate is in Chapters 2 and 6 — be extra thorough in those two
